C-Kool is a proprietary, formulated heat transfer fluid that contains a special package of inhibitors that help prevent corrosion.

C-Kool is an inhibited propylene glycol that is used as an industrial coolant and heat transfer agent. C-Kool is produced from USP grade Propylene Glycol, with corrosion inhibitor additive and is intended for use where incidental contact with food or potable water is possible and toxicological properties must be considered.

C-KOOL APPLICATIONS

APPLICATIONS

  • Craft brewing/fermentation cooling
  • Cooling liquid foods, such as in dairy plants
  • Packaging carbonated beverages
  • Refrigeration coil defrosting
  • Line heaters
  • Snow Melting
  • Refrigeration Systems
  • Combination Heating and Cooling Systems

STORAGE AND PACKAGING

C-Kool should be kept in closed or covered containers when not in use. Store in a cool, dry place with adequate ventilation. The product comes in 55 gallon drums.

DILUTION GUIDE

Use C-Kool at 20 – 65% in water. Using at less than 20% may cause corrosion and allow bio-fouling, and use at over 65% reduces heat transfer and pumping performance. To prevent precipitation and scaling, do not use hard water with a total hardness of 100ppm (as CaCO3) or chlorides or sulfates of >25ppm.

FERMENTATION AND CRAFT BREWING

C-KoolC-Kool is a popular heat-transfer fluid for beer cooling in breweries. It is used to cool fermentation tanks, yeast storage tanks, and beer storage tanks. The non-corrosiveness and low toxicity of C-Kool offer many advantages over the use of refrigerants such as brine, ammonia, water, or uninhibited propylene glycol. C-Kool will not affect either the yeast nor fermentation of the beer.

Temperature control in small craft breweries is a critical contributor to product quality and consistency. C-Kool allows brewers to reach and maintain target temperatures in primary and secondary fermenters as well as in wort coolers. By using at 25 – 45% in water, C-Kool is used to maintain controlled temperatures at -46°C to 121°C.

IMMERSION FREEZING OF PACKAGED FOODS

C-KoolC-Kool has been developed to meet the requirements for a heat transfer agent in spray and immersion freezing of packaged foods. The immersion or spray freezing processes provide a means of economically quick freezing the outer layer of packaged foods before final freezing in a freezing room.

DEFROSTING FREEZING COILS

C-KoolAqueous solutions of C-Kool may be used for defrosting cooling coils in freezing tunnels commonly used for preparing frozen food and high velocity air flow causes a layer of frost which reduces the heat transfer efficiency of the system.
